🎉 We’re incredibly proud of our BMS Innovators! 🎉
Congratulations to Nora Butler, Hannah Schaefer, and Sara Kilpatrick for earning 2nd Place in the Congressional App Challenge for Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District!👏💡
Their app, SafER Connection, was inspired by real-life events such as the Load Shed outage we experienced last April. Designed with adolescents and elderly users in mind, the app provides real-time emergency information (including power outage updates) and features a built-in messaging tool to help families stay connected, informed, and safe—without the misinformation often found on social media.
The girls were presented their award by Mr. Matt McKee of Speaker Mike Johnson’s office, recognizing their outstanding work during a record-breaking year for innovation nationwide!
We would also like to thank Jennifer A. Johnson, Assistant Manager of the Northwest LASTEM Innovation Center (Region 7), for being present and supporting our students throughout this journey.
This accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Mrs. Smith, their STE(a)M teacher, who encouraged creativity and innovation every step of the way.
This achievement highlights the creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving spirit that make BMS so special—and we can’t wait to see how this “seed” of innovation continues to grow. 🌱🚀
Way to go, Tigers!
